HURRICANE -- Renowned musician and Huntington native, Rodney L. Barbour, will be performing on the Harrah Organ at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, in Hurricane, on at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, as part of the Pipe Sounds Concert Series.

Barbour, who holds a bachelor of arts degree in music education and organ performance from Marshall University, has had an accomplished and varied musical career. Early in his career he performed with the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus Band and along the way he has been a featured entertainer at the Springdale Music Palace in Cincinnati, Ohio, he has performed and directed choirs at a variety of venues across the country and was even the official organist of the Cincinnati Reds at Riverfront Stadium from 1987-1998.

On Nov. 30, Barbour will perform "A Grand Christmas Spectacular," and Karen Lilly with Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church says that the viewing public can expect an outstanding show.

"This will be the sixth year that Rodney Barbour has performed for us in the Pipe Sounds Concert Series and he always puts on a great show. He is a very skilled musician and a wonderful entertainer," said Lilly.

Barbour will be entertaining the crowd in Hurricane with all the sounds of the season and Lilly says that he always finds a way to interact with the audience.

"Last year Rodney had clips playing from popular Christmas movies as he played music to accompany the clips. He always plays Christmas carols and encourages the audience to sing along, and most years he comes out for the second set of his performance dressed as Santa Claus. It's really a fun show for everyone and the United Methodist Women's Group will be hosting a reception after the concert so that everyone has the chance to meet Rodney." Lilly said.

Although donations are welcomed, Rodney L. Barbour's, A Christmas Spectacular, is held as way for Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church to show their appreciation to the patrons of the Pipe Sounds Concert Series and it is a free concert.
