HURRICANE -- Rodney L. Barbour, native of Huntington, will return to Hurricane for his third performance on the world-class Harrah Symphonic Organ at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Ave., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5.

Barbour is an accomplished performer and his career has taken many directions since completing extensive courses including his Doctorate at the University of Cincinnati. He has performed music with the Holiday on Ice Orchestra, the Ringling Brothers-Barnum and Bailey Circus Band, has held the position of official organist of the Cincinnati Reds at Riverfront Stadium as well as organist for several prestigious churches.

Professionally, Rodney has served as Dean of the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, has held support positions with renowned organ companies and has accompanied orchestras, choirs, instrumentalists and vocalists in a wide genre of styles.

Rodney's credentials are wide and varied, but one of his best attributes is his personality to connect with the audience and include them in the performance. During the Christmas 2009 concert, he pleasantly surprised those attending when he appeared as "Santa" himself for the second half on the concert.

Tickets for the Dec. 5 performance are $10. A reception will be hosted after the concert by the United Methodist Women. For more information, contact the church office, 304-562-5903 or check the Web, www.pipesounds.org.
