At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church will host a Christmas concert, "Blessings and Carols," in the Hurricane church's sanctuary.
Concert organist Rodney Barbour will play the church's Harrah Symphonic Organ. He will perform specialized arrangements of favorite Christmas carols and other traditional holiday songs, with an opportunity for concert-goers to join in in song.
Barbour will bring to the PipeSounds concert nearly 50 years of experience as an organist, pianist, keyboardist, trombonist, adult choir director, youth and children's choir director, hand-bell director, brass director, instrumental conductor, worship leader, lit-urgist, contemporary worship band director and entertainer.
A Huntington resident, Barbour has earned degrees in Music Education from Marshall University and Organ Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
Admission to the concert is free, as a "thank you" gesture to community members who have supported the Pipe-Sounds concerts at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church since September 2003.
Putnam County Bank is sponsoring the event.
